Water quality in the farm wells

Content Na, K, Ca, Mg, Zn, Fe, Mn, P, NO3, NH4, Cl, SO4 and pH were estimated in water samples from farm wells. Monitoring was carried out in selected farms situated in the six regions of Poland (Elblag, Krakow, Lomza, Ostroleka, Nowy Sacz and Szczecin provinces). Water quality was assessed according to Polish and European standards. It was found that over 70 of analysed water samples did not meet the standards. From among studies regions, most well with potable water were recorded in Krakow region. The worst drinking water was found in villages of Lomza, Szczecin and Ostroleka provinces. In all provinces, wells with an intolerable content of nitrate-nitrogen, potassium and manganese were present
