The experiment aim was to examine the effect of nitrogen fertilization on the grain yield and yield components of maize. Nitrogen was applied at the rates 0 to 270 kg N/ha with 30 kg intervals. The results were analysed statistically using the calculus of correlation and multiple regression. The grain yield height and dry matter yield of stover, as well as the number of ears per square m, were affected stronger by meteorological conditions, changing in particular years, than by nitrogen fertilization level. Nitrogen rates independently of years, exerted essential influence only on grain and stover yields and among yield components only on number of ears per suare m. It was found that the grain yield was depended mainly on ear number per square m
