This study was conducted to investigate the effect of four doses of zinc (0, 5, 10 and 15 kg per ha Zn2SO4.7H2O) on yield and yield components of lentil (Lens culinaris Medik.) cv Sazak-91 in three locations (Van central, Ercis and Ozalp) eastern Turkey in the 1997/98 growing season. Zinc application enhanced all yield components depending on location, and increased seed yield in all locations. The highest yields (1023- 1922 kg per ha) were obtained with 15 kg per ha zinc application. On the average of the three locations, seed yield was 1554 kg per ha in the plots that received 15 kg per ha zinc compared with the control (1231 kg per ha) and other zinc doses (about 1280 kg per ha). Zinc application of 15 kg per ha gave an increase of 323 kg per ha (26.2 percent) in seed yield over the control. It may be concluded that zinc fertilizer should be applied in zinc-deficient soils in order to obtain high seed yield from lentil
