The results from the field trials with sugar beet which was grown in Rhizomania infected area were introducing in this study. In the years 1996-1998 was investigated the influence of rising N-doses, as one possibility to improve the sugar beet quality and limit of virus influence on growth and development of sugar beet. Two varieties were used in this trial: Monriz - tolerant against Rhizomania, Ibis - susceptible to Rhizomania. In separate years there were obtained different yields and quality of sugar beet. The highest differences were between years. Significant differences are also between varieties, it underlined the importance of introducing the variety tolerant to Rhizomania infected conditions. Rising N fertilizing increased the yield of sugar in both varieties. Variety Monriz - the biggest yield of sugar was obtained with dose 120 kg N/ha, variety Ibis - 80 kg N/ha. Bigger share on obtained yield of sugar had the yield of roots (Monriz - 115%, Ibis - 135%). The content of sugar had the decreasing tendency according to the rising doses of fertilizing. Quality of both varieties was decreased also by increasing alpha-amino N content
