[Romanian forests, forestry policy, administrative structure and reglementations]

The area of forest lands in Romania is almost 27 % of the total area of the country. The management of state forests and of the forest road network is carried out by ROMSILVA - autonomous Regia, being the economic agent on state capital with 41 forestry branches all over the country. The wood harvesting and transport are implemented by trading companies on state capital specialized in this field. Research and Forest Management Institute and the National Institute of Wood deal with forest research. The forestry related legislation has been updated according to the new socio-economic conditions by an approval of a new Forestry Code made by the Parliament after 1990
