According to the observation on soil stratigraphy at salt spots, two types of saline soils are classified. Type 1 is observed in the wide valley or depression bottom plains and occuring in severely salt affected area. The soil are consisted of 3 layers top sandy layer, lower sandy layer and clay in the middle. Salt source may derived directly from artesian brine. Type 2 is found in the flat plain mostly occuring in the moderately to slightly salt affected area. Soil stratigraphy is composed of sandy layer and basement of Maha Sarakham Formation.
