Using pig dung and chemical fertilizer increased the fertilizer efficiency. Experiment was conducted at Chiang Mai Field Crops Research Center in dry season 1992. The treatments were consisted of 1. 0-0-0 2. 12-24-12 (25 kg/rai) 3. 12-24-12 (50 kg/rai) 4. pig dung 1 ton/rai 5. 12-24-12 (25 kg/rai) covered with pig dung 1 ton/rai 6. 12-24-12 (25 kg/rai) mixed with pig dung 1 ton/rai, respectively. The experiment showed that 12-24-12 (50 kg/rai) produced the highest yield (291 kg/rai) but non significance with fertilizer plus pig dung or 12-24-12 (25 kg/rai) [265-270 kg/rai]. For pig dung and 0-0-0 produced the lowest yield (229-242 kg/rai). After combine analysis for 2 year, it showed similar results. So using pig dung plus fertilizer could improve soil fertility and fertilizer efficiency in long term and reduced cost of production.
