Genetic divergence of winter wheat cultivars
1999
Hristov, N.
Thirty winter wheat cultivars of different geographic origin were used to analyze a number of quantitative traits of wheat (plant height, primary spike length, internode number, top internode length, grain number per primary spike, primary spike grain mass, grain mass per plant, and harvest index). In both years of the experiment (1996 and 1997), the traits were analyzed using the standard statistical methods. The results have shown that the cultivars under study differ significantly in their productive and morphological characteristics. Using cluster analysis, the cultivars were divided into groups (cluster) on the basis of their quantitative traits. Correlation analysis has shown that there is a significant positive correlation between plant height and top internode length, grain mass per spike and grain number per spike, grain mass per spike and grain mass per plant, grain mass per spike and harvest index, grain number per spike and grain mass per plant, and grain mass per plant and harvest index.
