Sessile oak forests - significance, distribution, bioecology, state and silvicultural measures [Serbia, Yugoslavia]
1998
Krstic, M. (Sumarski fakultet, Beograd (Yugoslavia))
Sessile oak forests in Serbia (Yugoslavia) range in a special altitudinal belt at the altitudes between 200 and 1300 m, in pure and mixed stands. The width of the belt is from 200-300 m on the mountains in the north of Serbia (Yugoslavia), to 400-600 m in the south part. Actual state of sessile oak forests is characterized by: insufficient timber supply, unfavourable age structure, unfavourable stand condition and unsatisfactory health. Owing to the above specific state, in future management of these forests it is necessary to undertake appropriate silvicultural measures.
