Tolerance as the state of diminished or disappeared response after repeted exposure to organophosphorus insecticides in mammals was presented. Mechanisms underlying the tolerance as well as factors influencing were reported. Those mechanisms once considered to be in the basis of this phenomenon, and at present to be of little significance were also explained. Nowdays most investigators agree that adaptive processes connected with receptors on postsynaptic membrane, firts of all with changes on muscarinic holinergic receptors, most probably are in the basis of the tolerance to toxicity.
