One of the most important factors of increasing the efficiency of milk production is optimal calving interval. A precondition for good conception rates in cows is the high quality of frozen semen used for AI. Because of the importance of sperm plasma membrane in the fertilization process, evaluation of membrane integrity using hypoosmotic swelling test (HOS-test) could be useful for the prediction of semen fertilizing ability. The aims of the present study were 1) to compare the ability of frozen/thawed bull spermatozoa to swell in solutions of different osmolality; 2) to ascertain the effect of 6h incubation in incubator at 37 deg C on the swelling ability of spermatozoa; 3) to establish the correlation between the results of hypoosmotic tests and bull's fertility evaluated by the 60-days NRR of the cows
