Modified method for jejuno-caecostomy in horses
1998
Toth, J. | Birke, H. | Huskamp, B. | Scheidemann, W.
After an irreversible damage to the wall of the ileum the damaged segment has to be resected and the jejunum opened into the cecum, i. e. one has to perform jejuno-caecostomy. Based on the knowledge of anatomy and clinical experience, these cases would require a side-to-side anastomosis. The authors used in the present work the so-called sawing thread technique. This method considerably decreases the danger of contamination since the opening of the anastomosis using wire suture material and two intravenous catheters ensues only after the stitches of the anastomosis have been made.
