Caraway seeds are very important and widely used spice in Lithuania. Seed yield, essential oil content and chemical composition of four different caraway cultivars and the influence of fertilizers on those characteristics were examined. The yield of caraway fruits grown in experimental fields varied in a wide range (from 984 to 2673 kg ha*[-1)) depending on fertilizer content, cultivation area and the cultivar itself. persentage concentration of main caraway compounds, limonene and carvone, varied in the range of 38,2-52,3 and 45,7-59,7 respectively.
