[Factors influencing mineral nitrogen content and its changes in soil]
2000
Timbare, R. | Busmanis, M. (Agrochemical Research Center, Riga (Latvia))
Investigations of Nmin content in the soils of Latvia were carried out in late autumn, in spring and during the vegetation period of cereals. The soil layers in the investigation were in the range of 0-60 cm. Nmin content in farmers' fields was studied in soil layer of 0-20 cm, but in the fertilization trials - up to 60 cm. The obtained data indicated that Nmin content in soil in spring was dependent on meteorological conditions in autumn wintertime, soil texture and previous crop, as well as input on organic fertilizers in autumn. Nmin content in soil during vegetation period was influenced by the type of organic fertilizer, used in autumn, soil organic matter content, acidity and moisture of soil, as well as by the atmospheric temperature and the amount of precipitation.
