In pig breeding besides the Latvian White different foreign breeds are utilized: Estonian Landrace, Pietrain, Deutsch Edelswine and others. These breeds are used for two, three breed and reciprocal crossing. The aim of the research was to test and compare carcass characteristics and chemical content of lean meat of these crossbreeds and of the Latvian White purebreed pigs. The crossing of Pietrain boars with Latvian White sows increased the weight of ham, loin eya area, and also the increased fat thickness. The most successful displayed the cross F1 from variant o LW x o P sows with boars of Estonian Landrace. The content of dry matter, protein and mineral substances in lean meat of the pure breed and all three crossing pigs were similar. The summarized content of eight indispensable and nine dispensable amino acids was higher in the reciprocally crossed variant.
