Agricultural education in Latvia on the threshold of the 21st century

The influence of restoration of independence and development of democracy in Latvia on the agricultural education in this contry is explained. The transformations in the secondary vocational education system as well as in the Latvia University of Agriculture influenced by the political and social changes as well as by the rapid progress of science and technology in the world are discussed. The changes in the structure and the content of education connected with Latvia's aim to join the EU are analysed. The role and tasks of school authorities and teachers in the period of transformations are pointed out.
