The aim of the given investigation was to examine and characterize the microflora in the mouth cavity and the intestinal himus of duodenum in healthy dogs as well as in dogs affected by the periodontal disease. The water rinsed out of the mouth cavity and the fluid of duodenum himus of 12 healthy dogs and 61 dogs affected by the periodontal disease were microbiologically examined. The investigation showed that the mouth cavity of healthy dogs contained proportionally equal quantity of gram-positive and gram-negative microflora. The duodenum himus fluid of healthy dogs either contained no bacterial defilement or it was insignificant. During the development of the periodontitis the number of bacterial species in the mouth cavity gradually increased. The symptom of the disease is also the presence of Escherichia coli in the himus of duodenum.
