The dynamics of pH in rumen of calves from the birth till 18 weeks of age in vivo was investigated. The pH of rumen by means of two electrode pH-probe inserd per os and through the fistule was measured. The uninterrupted pH measurements probing through the fistula, lasted on an average 12 hours, including 2 feeding times in a testing cycle - at 6 o'cloc in the morning and at 12 - afternoon were performed. Results of studies prove, that new-born calves have a low acid reaction of rumen setting (pH 6,8). The intrarumenal setting overall in the colostrum and milk period of calves showed tendency to become more alkaline (pH 7). Other changes in the setting reaction of rumen after feeding of calves were not significant.
