ERDB's [Ecosystems Research and Development Bureau] study delved on the reproductive and productive roles of women. Reproductive roles included the performance of traditional and home-based activities. Productive roles pertained to economic and nondomestic activities, such as participating in government programs and upland farm activities. Results showed that female participation in upland development was clearly recognized. Males treated women as equal and crucial partners in developing their communities. In the study, women helped much and were recognized for their role in establishing nurseries, developing plantations and maintaining and harvesting crops. As to their reproductive roles, women, as expected, did much of the household chores. However, they were indispensable when it came to marketing produce and products from their areas. On the other hand, men were found to be more active in attending community meetings, participating in beautification projects and managing kin networks. Although the men were those that usually decided and handled matters along upland farm activities, females usually managed and decided on domestic concerns
