The study was conducted to identify and classify the plants growing on the northwestern slope of Mt. Banahao [Philippines] for their potential use as ornamental plants. The circular plot method was used on the density and frequency analysis of the plants. Six plots along the trail of northwestern slope of Mt. Banahao were established at 1000, 1200, 1400, 1600, 1800 and 2020 m above sea level (m asl). A total of 77 families, 164 genera and 201 species were found in all six plots. Member of the Melastomataceae and Aspleniaceae family had the highest number of species in all the plots. From the base (530 m asl) to the summit (2020 m asl) 109 families, 273 genera and 308 species were recorded. Moraceae family has the highest number occurrence followed by Euphorbeaceae and Gravienae families. Forty species of potential ornamental plants were found in the six plots while eight were found along the trail from the base to the summit of the mountains. Melastomataceae and Orchidaceae families were found to have the highest number of species with potential as an ornamental plant. Fifty percent of the selected plants with potential as ornamental were identified to be indigenous, forty eight percent endemic and two percent pantropic. Based on preliminary evaluation the selected ornamental plants were classified on their potential use for crop improvement and commercial utilization. Among the selected flowering plants, 5 were identified to have potential as cutflower; 26 as potted flowering/fruit bearing plants and 7 as hanging plants. As potential foliage plant, 4 were selected as cutfoliage, 27 potted foliage and 7 as hanging plants
