This study aimed to determine the possibility of crossing female native catfish with the male African catfish in concrete tanks. Sexually mature catfish breeders were selected based on the redness of the papillae, distended abdomen, and prominEnce of blood vessels in the belly. Two treatments were applied: 1 - natural spawning, and 2 - injection of HCG (human chorionic gonadotrophin) at 4,000 IU/kg body weight. Eggs were stripped 10 hr after the last injection. Male broodstock were also injected at 500 IU/kg body weight 10 hr before the brooder is killed for the removal of testes. The percentage of spawning success observed after injection of HCG hormone was compared to the control using chi-square and contingency tests
