The highest values of the total iron and selected forms in iron were observed in the illuvial horizons (Bt). The contents of the total iron in fluvioglacial and glacial parent material were similar. Siliceous iron (55-69 percent) accounted for a major part of total iron in the soils investigated, whereas free iron for the remaining part, composed of crystalline free iron (Fec) and amorphous free iron (Fea). The content of crystalline free iron ranged from 1.94 to 7.02 g/kg and the content of amorphous free iron from 0.83 to 3.17 g/kg. The profile distribution of total iron and siliceous iron was typical for illuvial process; the highest amounts were found in Bt horizon. However the profile distribution of crystalline and amorphous free iron did not show a similar dependence
