Real time irrigation control under conditions of water scarcity in the Notec river catchment

Real time control of irrigation systems is specially useful at spatial and temporal variation of pedoclimatic and hydrological factors. A computer aided model scheduling operation of irrigation systems was developed. The model consists of three modules taking into account the real time information on current state of water system and its disturbances. It is implemented into irrigation practice on the Notec river catchment. On an example of the subirrigation system with real time control a significant reduction of water use was observed in comparison to operation procedures based on fixed scheduling instruction
