266 Polish Merino ewes were milked mechanically from the 50th day of lactation from January through May. The research investigated the effects of the lactation order, research year, number of lambs and ram line on the milking duration, lactation persistence and milk production. The impact of all the factors on the milk yield, except the number of lambs, turned out highly significant. Correlation values between the milk yield in the subsequent lactation show a relatively high repeatability. Differences across ram lines in the ewe milk yield suggest an effective selection of Merino sheep additionally towards the milk performance
