1999
Hassan, N.I. (Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands, Damascus (Syria))
Arab lands possess numerous varieties of flora and fauna adapted to varying degrees of aridity, where unique biological materials were evolved. Ecological balance was maintained for thousands of years through the rationale use of natural genetic materials. Unfortunately, drastic reduction in the mammalian wildlife took place because of over hunting, destruction of the natural habitats, and rangelands degradation. This book concentrates on the antelopes, gazelles and deers in the Arab heritage, with detailed information on some Arabian antelopes and gazelles and deers. Common features, varying strains and ecotypes were also discussed with the sub-families.
