In long-term programme of recurrent selection of spring barley was from ten combinations after crossing of ten varieties (Novum, Jubilant, Galan, Rub¡n, HE-4886, Birka, CF-79502, Heran, Salka a Candice) selected ten spikes from forty lines of F5 generation. Those were sawn as line (400) in P1992 experiment, where also parents varieties were included. The experiment was established in ten replications, while replication had forty lines according to F5 generation and nine parental varieties, so together there were forty nine rows. A lot of examined lines were more yielding than parental varieties, however high grain yield was combine with agronomic undesirable plant height (r sub(G) = 0.740). Choosing of lines into another cycle of recurrent selection was done by the index selection. On the base of F2 generation results were from more combinations selected two of them, which were examined as a ramsch-population in F3 and F4 generation together with the parental lines and varieties. Both ramsch-populations of R1 and R2 had in comparison to parents higher weight of one thousand grain yield and lower plant height at the average level to parents. In grain yield only R2 matched to parents. Lower relations between grain yield and plant height in F4 generation (in 1997) than in origin line populations in the experiment P1992 indicate higher frequency of favourable recombinations between plant height and grain yield
