We analysed green lucerne (n 64) grown in Slovakia during the years 1990-1998. We elaborated a survey of nutrient content with the emphasis laid on crude fibre, ADF and NDF and from them derived parameters of nutritive value (without classification, according to cuts and harvest stages). The results show variable values of the whole fibre component. In samples of lucerne without classification there was determined crude fibre min 178, max 458 g/kg d.m., ADF 224-470 g/kg d.m., NDF 234-530 g/kg d.m. Effective degradability of organic matter (EDgOM) in rumen of young bulls (n 23) was on average level 62% (47-75%). OM digestibility in vitro (n 56) was 61% (45-73%). The raise of crude fibre content and its components manifested itself in decrease of degradability and OM digestibility. The calculated regression and correlation relations made it possible on the basis of crude fibre content to estimate the content of ADF, NDF or OM digestibility necessary for the calculation of energetic value. NEL (MJ/kg d.m.) = 7.542-0.006 ADF (g/kg d.m.) r2 = 0.630; NEL (MJ/kg d.m.) = 7.805 - 0.006 NDF (g/kg d.m.) r2 = 0.708
