Alginate pellet preparation using 0.1 or 1.0 % (dry weight) Trichoderma biomass was better than the use of spore suspension (10*[5)-10*[9) spores/ml), since higher proliferation and sporulation of T. harzianum was detected. High Trichoderma populations on these alginate pellets were remained after storing at room temperature (25-30 deg C) for 111 days. Efficacy of alginate pellets to control tomato stem rot, caused by Sclerotium rolfsii, under greenhouse condition was similar to the use of T. harzianum powder and carboxin. Application of alginate pellets mixed with rice bran and compost provided 45 percent of surviving plants over the control.
