Knowledge and practice on food additives and contaminants of late adolescence in Bangkok Metropolis

Purposes of this study were to investigate: 1) background information; 2) knowledge and practice on food additives and contaminants; 3) the relationship between background information and knowledge and practice; and 4) the relationship between knowledge and practice on food additives and contaminants of late adolescence in Bangkok Metropolis. Test and questionnaire were used for data collection. A multi-stage sampling technique was used to draw a sample of 450 students from State Universities in Bangkok. Only 392 responded tests and questionnaires were usable for data analysis. Percentage, mean, and correlation coefficient were used to analyze data. The results were as follows: Most of late adolescence lived with their parents. The majority of their parents owned business, held bachelor degree and earned 46,523.52 baht per month. Most of late adolescence had moderate level of knowledge and practice on food additives and contaminants. The hypothesis testing showed a statistical significance as follows: Gender was related to knowledge and practice on food additives and contaminants at the .001 level. Parents' income was related to knowledge on food additives and contaminants at the .05 level. Knowledge and practice on food additives and contaminants were correlated at the .001 level.
