2000
Kose, H. | Kostak, S. (Aegean Agricultural Research Inst., Izmir (Turkey))
The objective of this study was to determine the effects of cutting times, rooting media and IBA (Indole 3 butyric acid) on rooting of N. oleander L. cv Variegata and the effect of Paclobutrazol on growth and flowering of N. oleander L. cv Variegata. In N. oleander L. cv Variegata, the highest rooting percentage was obtained from hard-wood cuttings taken in February and it was followed by soft-wood cuttings taken in July. Rooting was not observed in the cuttings that were taken in September. No differences were obtained between rooting mediums (perlite, perlite+peat). The rooting percentage, root length and the number of roots per cutting were increased by using the IBA with concentration of 4000, 6000 and 8000 ppm. With using doses of paclobutrazol 0 (control), 10, 20, 30 and 50 mg/pot as soil drench and 0 (control), 125, 250, 500 and 1000 ppm as foliage sprey, the growth significantly suppressed. But the effects of paclobutrazol on the flowering period and number of flowers were not significant
