Study on the effectiveness of cyclohexene herbicides for grass weed control in vegetable soybean
1995
Supachai Bangwaek
Cyclohexene herbicides, i.e. clethodim, sethoxydim and cycloxydim were applied in vegetable soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr. "Kamphaeng Saen 292") for grass control at 1, 2 and 3 weeks after crop emergence (WAE). No phytotoxicity was observed when the herbicide applied at different growth stages. All Chemicals provided moderate control of grasses when applied at 1 WAE. The application of cycloxydim at 150 g ai/ha at 2 WAE was found the best and also provided the highest yield. Higher rate of herbicides were required to obtained a good weed control when applied at 3 WAE. However, some grasses, were found tolerant to these herbicides. The combination of cyclohexenes and acifluorfen for control of broadleaves was also studied. All combinations provided slight crop injury but without antagonistic effect. Application of the combinations at 2 WAE provided better control of broadleaves compared to that at 3 WAE. Addition of adjuvants was found to increase cyclohexene efficacy for grass control and without yield improvement. Study on chemical persistence in soil at 3 days after application revealed no effect on germination of grain sorghum which used as the test plant.
