Vegetable corn regional yield trial in 1990

Results were collected from 6 locations except Chai Nat which was in drought condition. At Chiang Mai, there were significant differences among traits such as 50 % silking and tasselling date, plant and ear heights, number of ears, sweetness and yield. The hybrid variety HY (2-1) * (3-4) F1 performed the best among hybrids and gave weight of ears with husk as high as 1,929 kg/rai. For open-pollinated varieties; HSSW (HS) C2F1 performed better than HSSW (S1) C1F1 in yield and quality than check variety HSSW Co, they gave weight of ears with husk by 1,456 and 1,184 kg/rai compared to 993 kg/rai of the check. Similar results were obtained at Srisumrong and Phetchabun, the hybrid variety HY (2-1) * (3-4) F1 performed the best in each location and gave weight of ear with husk by 1,663 and 1,550 kg/rai, respectively. The best hybrid sweet corn variety was HY (2-1) * (3-4) F1 which performed the same trend in the 3 locations with average weight of ears with husk by 1,714 kg/rai compared to 1,003 kg/rai of the check variety HSSW Co. For the open-pollinated sweet corn variety, HSSW (HS) C2F1 was still suitable for farmer it gave averaged weight of ears with husk by 1,388 kg/rai. For tien and gultinous corn varieties. SSRTW 8801 and Kaset Khao were still suitable. They gave weight of ears with husk averaged from the 6 locations by 1,088 and 1,280 kg/rai. The results of other 3 locations: Praputthabat, Mahasarakam and Roiet were also presented in summary tables.
