Map of the study area was constructed from Landsat Thermatic map (Landsat 5-TM Date 14.12.1989 and Landsat 5-TM Date 23.11.1993) and field survey at Puthamonthon district, Nakhon Pathom province. The water sources were classified according to the expected source of pollution ie, feeding area (areas in the river or main feedercanals), agricultural area and Industrial area. The water samples were randomly collected and transferred for quality analysis ie, DO, BOD5, COD, Total solid, Nitrogen, phosphorus, Faecal coliform Bacteria etc. Sediments were also collected for Fe, Cu, Zn and Mn analysis. It was found that the water quality in the three areas was very poor. The BOD5 and Faecal coliform values were in the range corresponding to level 4 of water quality according to the classification of the National Board of Environment (1994). According to this regulation, The utilization for domestic use requires a disinfection process and special treatment of water. Dissolved Oxygen in the Klong in Feeding area, agricultural area and industrial area falls in the range of 1.3-5.3, 1.7-5.2 and 0.1-3.5 mg/l, respectively. The sediments in the canal in feeding area, agricultural area and industrial area contain Fe at the ranged 1.8-2.95, 2.19-2.81, 1.98-2.87 mg/kg, respectively. Contain Cu at the ranged 20.5-395.2, 28.6-65.5, 27.6-3178.3 mg/kg respectively. Copper was found the high level ranged from 20.5-3178.3 mg/kg.
