The regulation of microbial exopolysaccharides (EPS) synthesis and the development of the scientific bases of obtaining the EPS with the stable properties are studied. Etapolan, a complex polysaccharide preparation, synthesized by an Acinetobacter sp., is obtained. A scientific strategy is elaborated for developing a technology of biosynthesis of the microbial EPS distinguished by the specific required properties
