[Plant breeding and seed production of carrot heterosis hybrids on the sterilized background]

The study aimed at obtaining F1 hybrids and strains of carrot and searching effective methods of seed production. The classification of the petaloid type is presented. Methods of isolating maternal forms are improved. As a result the new hybrids Ranok (Morning) F1 and Status F1 are created. A number of seed production elements are worked out. The hybrid Ranok F1 is included into the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine. The economic effect of growing the hybrids stood at Hr 1062-1502 per hectare ($531-751 as of 1998)
