[Physical and biochemical properties and functional role of storage proteins in beet]
1999
Lisnevych, L.O. (Institute of Plant Physiology and Genetics, Kyiv (Ukraine))
As a result of the study 11S seed globulin is revealed to be a storage protein of beetroot. Composition of globulin's subunits, polypeptides, aminoacids, cryoproperties as well as ontogenetic and genotypic changeability are studied. A functional role of the protein and its ability to be a protein marker are proved. Types of 11S globulin, their number and frequency are found to differ in various varieties, species and lines that became a criterium of beet genome assessment. Lines of the practical use of the results obtained are shown
