Effect of age, stocking density and location of cage in the battery on laying performance of small flock of Hisex Brown layers

The investigations were carried out on 192 Hisex Brown layers until 72 and 78 week of age. Group 1 (72 birds) was housed 6 birds per cage in the battery side directed to the door and the window, group 2 (60 birds) was housed 5 birds per cage in the opposite battery side, and group 3 (60 birds) was housed 5 birds per cage in the one-side battery directed to the wall. The Hisex Brown layers have had the rate of laying very near to the production standard, feed consumption was somewhat lower, and mortality rather higher than the production standard. Stocking density and location of cage in the battery had not effect on laying performance.
