Tetra SL layers were kept at two farms in different housing and feeding conditions during 52 weeks of laying (from 22 to 74 weeks of age). At the start of production and at the end of every 4-week period on every farm from the same segment of battery 100 birds were individually weighed (14 weighings in total). Significant differences in body weight of layers were found between farms in some weighings, as well as between some successive weighings on both farms. These changes in layers body weight very often were inexplicable. Linear regressions of average body weight from the 1st to 14th weighing indicated increasing, but insignificant trend, indicating also more effects of husbandry and feeding conditions then age on body weight of layers.
