Examination of microbiological correctness of complete fodder mixture for poultry

Autors have examined 1027 samples of complete fodder mixture for poultry, 614 for poultry in breeding and 413 for poultry adults, at the Veterinary Instutute in Kraljevo, Serbia (Yugoslavia) in the 7-years period, using standard microbiological methods perscribed by Regulations for methods of using samples for the physical, chemical and microbiological complete fodder mixture analyses ("Sl.list SFRJ" 15/87). The evaluation of results obtained were according to the Regulation for maximal amount of harmful compounds in complete fodder mixture ("Sl.list SFRJ" 2/90, art. 8 and 9). From the total of 1027 examined complete fodder mixtures 455 samples (44.30%) did not satisfy prescribed conditions by Regulations. The percent of unsatisfactory samples was 50.16% for poultry in breeding and 35.59% for poultry adults. The main reason of microbiological incorrectness was increased number of saprofit mould and fungus in one gram of food.
