Investigation was carried out in a pot experiment, on soil-sand mixture, with winter wheat cultivar Srbijanka. Rates of applied nitrogen were 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 g/pot of KAN (calcium ammonium nitrate, 27% N) and time of application in stages of tillering, jointing, heading and flowering. Nitrogen concentration in above-ground part of mature plants, grains and straw increased with increasing of nitrogen rate. The later application of nitrogen caused larger increase of nitrogen concentration in grains, while earlier application increased more nitrogen concentration in straw. The accumulation of nitrogen in plant increase of nitrogen rate, and changed under effect of time of application, too. The highest accumulation was obtained at topdressing in jointing, and the lowest one at nitrogen topdressing in flowering. The nitrogen harvest index was higher at later addition of nitrogen and at medium rates. Physiological efficiency of nitrogen decreased with increase of nitrogen rate, and somewhat at later nitrogen addition. Utilization of nitrogen from fertilizer decreased with increase of nitrogen rate, and at its application at earlier and later dates.
