On the basis of a study of corn growing in conventional and conservation systems of soil tillage the following conclusions were drawn: The highest 6-year average yield of corn was obtained in the plowed variant; In the till variant, the yield was lower by 29.4% which were due to the use of an inadequate drill for direct saving; The other variants of soil tillage brought corn yield close to the plowed variant; The significant yield reductions in the no-till variant occurred because of an increased weed infestation and a reduced number of plants which were due to the use of an inadequate drill for direct sowing; The rotation corn-soybean increased the yield of corn by 6.1%; In the critical period regarding corn water requirements, water content in the soil layer 0-60 cm was higher in the no till variant than in the other variants.
