In the last few years interest has increased in developing analytical methods for determination of lead based on lead hydride generation. The determination of lead by hydride generation combined with atomic absorption spectrophotometry is very sensitive method for analytical determination of lead at mg levels in samples of waste, surface, treated as well as drinking waters and has significant advantages. Instrumental method of lead hydride generation with sodium borhydride in the presence of the oxidant potassium dichromate and successive determination of lead by AAS technique has been described. Sensitivity of about 0.003 mg/l has been determined as well as the working range at about 0.01-0.2 mg/l. The effects of certain foreign ions upon the reaction were also determined.
