Production characteristics and breeding value of red clover cultivars

Production characteristics and breeding value of 17 red clover cultivars have been examined in a two-year study. Following characteristics are determined: plant height, number of stems per plant, specific leaf area, yields of green mass and dry matter per plant. The analyses of variance and covariance were used to calculate variation coefficients, variance and heritability parameters of the studied cultivars. Mutual relationships smong the characteristics were determined by the coefficients of genetic and phenotypic correlation.
