Influence of some factors on the content of nitrates in lettuce (Lactuca sativa)

The object of our research was to follow up a cumulation of nitrates in lettuce (Lactuca sativa) and its dependence on crop time, the sort of fertilizer, place of growth and season. The shorter was an interval between the application of fertilizer and vegetable crop, the higher was the content of nitrates in vegetable. The greatest share in high level of nitrates had nitrogen fertilizers, especially NPK. We measured higher values of nitrates in lettuce that was growing in greenhouse and we also observed higher content of nitrates in spring lettuce than in autumn growen lettuce.
