[Employment of sheep and goat mixed grazing in grassland management in Prague protected areas]

In 2000, we have begun to study the effect of sheep and goat mixed grazing on grasslands in some protected areas of Prague. The floristic composition of these areas had been disturbed in the last decades owing to the neglected management. The grazing intensity, observed at 3 selected localities, varied considerably according to the plant species. The animals grazed very well grasses (including Brachypodium pinnatum and Festuca sp.), Seseli osseum, Seselihipomarathrum, Bupleurum falcatum, Stachys recta and Sanguisorba minor. Some localities were not grazed enough, while others (dry and hilly) were overgrazed. Such localities must be grazed very carefully.
