The aim of this work was to evaluate the milk composition of a herd of Czech shortwooled goats in 1998 (10 goats) and 1999 (12 goats). The following average values were obtained for each of the years: total proteins 3.09+/-0.14 and 3.03+/-0.31 %, milk fat 3.83+/-0.32 and 4.01+/-0.20 %, lactose 4.26+/-0.04 and 4.35+/-0.05 %, calcium 1.05+/-0.05 and 1.01+/-0.04 g/L, casein 2.18+/-0.07 and 2.13+/-0.07 %. The concentration of most of the milk components increases at the beginning and at the end of the lactation, while the milk yield is still low or decreases.
