Disease of wheat are causing important looses of the yield in Latvia. Determination of disease, assessment of incidence and severity of diseases is the main task for the present. Field experiments were carried out on cultivated sandy clay loam lessive brown soils of the Research and Training Farm "Peterlauki" of Latvian University of Agriculture. Development of diseases was observed on the 14 winter wheat varieties and 7 spring wheat varieties. Leaf blotch, tan spot and glume blotch are most important diseases in Latvia during last 5 years. Incidence of tan spot was about 100 per cent and severity 16-70 per cent on the top leave at the time of milk ripening in 1998, and respectively 100 per cent and 1-5 per cent in 1999. Mildew was not observed in "Peterlauki" in 1998 and severity of mildew was 1-5 per cent in 1999. Brown and yellow rusts were observed very seldom, incidence mainly depends on variety
