During the period 1997-1999 investigations were carried out at the Voke Branch of the Lithuanian Institute of Agriculture. The trials were carried out on soddy podzolic sandy loam soil. The objective of this work to establish the growth of Elytrigia repens in various agricultural crops, in bare fallow and in ploughing but uncultivated soil. According to the data of investigations the number of Elytrigia repens stems in various agricultural crops decreased only till the middle of vegetation after cultivation and competition. Later the number of this weed reached and even exceeded the initial its amount in early spring. The number of Elytrigia repens stems in bare fallow was reduced by 1,7 times until autumn. It was established, that the length of Elytrigia repens rhizomes in winter rye crop was decreased by 2,8 times and air-dry mass by 1,7 times till the middle of July as compared with the initial its amount in early spring, in spring barley- 5,3 and 6,5 times, in potatoes- 1,5 and 2,0 times, in bare fallow- 1,6 and 2,3 times respectively
