Overview of the models used for estimating genetic parameters
2001
Kaart, T. (Estonian Agricultural Univ., Tartu (Estonia). Inst. of Animal Science)
The simplest genetic model used in animal breeding presents the phenotypic value of animal P as the sum of mean P (-), genetic value G and environmental value E. Nowdays animal science is using many different modifications of this model. The themes like half- and full-sib models, animal models, models with repeated measurements, maternal models, models with QTL-effect and multivariaate models are considered. Concurrently the genetic and statistical models are given and their differences discussed for different analyses. The estimable effects and genetic parameters are presented
