Use of recombinant viruses in the prevention of Newcastle disease
1999
Nagy,É.
The author summarizes her recent work on the of recombinant fowlpox virus vectors for production of hemagglutinin-neuraminidase (HN) protein of the Newcastle Disease virus (NDV).This recombinant HN protein elicited a high level of protective immunity against NDV.In further work, a discriminative ELISA system has been developed (based on a baculovirus expressed NDV nucleoprotein).By the use of this ELISA the chicks vaccinated with the above recombinant fowlpox-NDV could be serologically differentiated from those vaccinated with complete NDV or from those infected with virulent wild NDV strains.
